2004 Battle of Lethbridge
July 12, 2004

The third meeting between the Lethbrige Bulls and the Lethbridge Diablos was a very exciting game. The Lethbridge Bulls defeated the Diablos 11 - 10. The Diablos led the game 7 - 2 until the fourth inning when starter Mitch Carpenter injured his elbow.

Diablos begin 2004 season in Kelowna

The Lethbridge Diablos opening season game was in Kelowna in 2004. The Diablo pitching staff struggled on the mound and the bats remained silent until the third game of the tourney. The Diablos were missing key players on the mound and at the plate.

The Diablos roster has changed greatly over the past year. The Diablos added some pitching depth and some extra long ball hitters. New acquistions for the 2004 season include Mitch Carpenter, Ryan Hanley, Rejean Jeannotte, Joe Legg and Cody McIntosh, The Diablos will begin their season July 1st at the Kelowna Jays Tournament.

Diablos improve on 2002 performance
August 15, 2003

The Lethbridge Diablos finished their 2003 season last weekend in the Alberta AAA Mens Provincial Championship. The Diablos began the tournament with a loss to the Calgary Cardinals, 9-2. Other than the second inning, when the Cardinals scored seven runs, the Diablos played very good baseball. In game two of the round robin tournament the Diablos played the Red Deer Riggers. The Diablos bats were again unable to generate much offense and the Diablos lost 5-0. Game three for the Diablos was against the Red Deer Stags. Hitting continued to be a problem and the Diablos lost the game 10-0. The last game of the round robin for the Diablos was against the 2002 Champions, St. Albert Tigers. Finally the Diablos bats were active. The Diablos scored 11 runs but were unable to hold off the consistant bats of the Tigers losing 12-11.

All the teams at the 2003 Provincial championship were extremely happy with the tournament. The baseball fields were in excellent shape and the weather was perfect. The Diablos improved on their performance from 2002 and look forward to 2004. The 2004 season will begin in May.

Diablos - St. Albert Tigers battle

The Lethbridge Diablos lost a close one in the final of the first Annual Nord International - Diablos Summer Classic. The St. Albert Tigers defeat the Diablos 4-3 in the final Sunday to claim the first ever championship. The Diablos earned their way to the final by defeating Spokane Washington and Havre Montana in round robin play and defeated the Kelowna Jays in a semi-final. The St. Albert Tigers earned their way to the final by defeating Edmonton and Kelowna in round robin play and Spokane in the other semi-final.

Third place at Trail Tourney

The Lethbridge Diablos won third place at the 2003 Trail Oriole Tournament last weekend. Lethbridge began the tournament with a loss to the Calgary Cardinals but bounced back to defeat the Red Deer Stags and Spokane.

2003 Provincial Bid
September 15, 2002

The executive of the LSMB is in the process of producing a bid for the 2003 AAA Senior Provincial championship. The LSMB is also considering hosting the AA and Twilight Provincial championships as well. The bid will be presented to Baseball Alberta at the end of October. Probable dates for the championship will be August 8 - 10, 2003. The championship will be played at both Lloyd Nolan and Henderson Stadium. PROVINCIAL LESSON
August 12, 2002

A squad of 21 players travelled to Red Deer this past weekend to compete at the 2002 AAA Senior Mens Provincial championship. The young team competed well at the plate, but was very inexperienced on the mound. The Diablos pitching staff stuggled with the consistent bats of the other 4 teams. The Diablos began the tournament against the Red Deer Riggers. The Riggers scored 7 in the first inning and won the game 11-6. The second game had the Diabos pitted against the Calgary Cardinals. The Cardinals won 16-6. The third game of the tournament was rain delayed to Sunday morning due to extreme weather conditions. On Sunday morning the Diablos met the Red Deer Stags. The Stags won 14-9, however the Diablos were leading until the Stags scored 8 runs in the 4th inning. In their final round robin game the Diablos battled with the St. Albert Tigers, who won the right to represent Alberta for the 2002 National championship in Prince George, B.C. The Diablos played with a roster of 9 in this final game. The Tigers won 14-3. The weekend was an eye-opener for the LSMB and the team organizers are looking forward to a much better Provincial performance in 2003..

DIABLOS BURN THE BULLS
July 31, 2002

The LSMB Diablos scored twelve runs in the first three innings and never looked back. The final score was 12-7 in favour of the Diablos. Five Diablo pitchers contributed to the win. Player/Coach Blake Babki decided to give each pitcher some time on the mound to prepare them for the Provincial championship in10 days.

The Calgary Outlaws tournament July 12 - 14 was a successful trip for the Lethbridge Diablos. The Diablos played well in two of the three games. The other 3 teams included Outlaws, Cardinals and __________ all from Calgary.

The Lethbridge Diablos travelled to Trail, B.C. to participate in the Trail Orioles Baseball Tournament on the Canada Day long weekend. Teams from Washington, Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge and Trail played in a 2 division round robin The Diablos began the tournament against the host Trail Orioles Two costly errors contributed in a 8 - 5 loss. The second and third game saw the Diablos defeat both of the Calgary teams. After the round robin the Diablos finished second in their pool and were up against the Red Deer Stags. In the tournament semi-final the Diablos once again had the game in control until 2 costly errors defeated the Diablos.

The Diablos intend to attend this tournament again next year with more players and a stronger pitching staff.

The Lethbridge Diablos release their team logo, uniform and colors today. The logo includes a "L" and "D" in flame text. The Diablos uniform will be a red sleeveless button up uniform with logo on upper left chest and LSMB logo on the center of the upper back. The team pants are grey, with black sox and black undershirt. The Diablos will have red hats with white text.

With the creation of the LSMB in 2002 Lethbridge will create a new all-star team that will compete in the Senior Mens Provincial championships and many invitational tournaments around western Canada. Blake Babki as been announced that he will be the player/coach of the newly formed team. A roster of 25 players will be produced for the provincials and the team will attend two other invitational tournaments in Trail, B.C. and Calgary. 2002 LETHBRIDGE DIABLOS

The beginning of the LSMB in Lethbridge saw the initation of the Lethbridge Diablos baseball club. Players were selected from the LSMB membership and represented Lethbridge at three tournaments this past summer.

The team managed by Blake Babki saw some success and some promise for the future. The team was formed in the middle of June with open practices for any LSMB player. The players ranged from 18 to 35 years of age.
